Broken Water Main Floods Exclusive Neighborhood in Tarzana

As seen on KTLA 5:

Multiple fire trucks were responding to flooding in the streets of a community of million-dollar homes in Tarzana on Thursday evening after an apparent water main break.

Water was coursing through the street near Brewster and Topeka drives (map), aerial video showed.

Fire officials said the main burst in front of a home under construction on Brewster Drive.

The water affected about six homes in the area, mostly flooding yards and garages, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

One major problem was a boundary wall surrounding one property that started to act like a dam.

“You can see we had to breach a wall at the home… on the corner in order to let the water out of the back yard because it was building up,” LAFD Chief Brian Schultz said. “It was about two and a half feet deep when we got here.”

Another concern was the possibility of sinkholes at the site of the break.
