Now is the time of year to start de-winterizing your house and doing those spring maintenance chores you’ve been looking forward to all winter. Whether you do a simple spring cleaning in all your rooms or you have a full blown maintenance routine you go through, the time is close at hand!

Here are some things you’ll want to plan out for your spring maintenance routine:

1. Finish up your winter maintenance routine by planning ahead for next year. Hose down snow shovels, rinse ice scrapers and even buy new furnace filters.

2. Hose off driveways, sidewalks, steps and porches to get rid of excess salt which can eat at your concrete and asphalt.

3. Wash cars thoroughly or have them detailed by an expert to remove winter road salt and grime to prevent damage to your paint job and undercarriage.

4. For spring and summer tools and toys such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, 4 wheelers and motorcycles, change the spark plug(s), the gas and have the oil changed. Not only does this remove any water that may have accumulated but ensures they’ll be ready for use.

While this may not seem to be a “spring maintenance” thing, now is a great time of year to go over your homeowners insurance with your agent. Doing so now allows you to list items on your schedule such as expensive gifts received for Christmas or Valentine’s but you can see if any changes need to be made for new laws that took effect the beginning of the year. Chivaroli Premier is the agency to go to make sure your homeowners policies are up to date.
